You're navigating one of life's biggest transitions, and yet no one's asked how you're really doing.

For new mums who are ready to feel at home in their bodies again.

You’re leaking when you laugh and pretending it’s fine. Your body feels foreign, like it belongs to everyone else but you. Your birth is still replaying in your head and you’re not sure why it won’t let go.

You mentioned it at your six-week check. You were told it was normal.

Maybe you’ve tried talking about it. And it helped but something still feels stuck. Like it’s living in your body, not your head.

You’re drowning in the doing of new motherhood, putting yourself last, and somewhere beneath the exhaustion is a quiet voice wondering: when do I get to heal?

It’s not that you’re not coping. It’s that no one has actually stopped to ask what you’re carrying.

That's what Held to Heal is here for.

Laura Justin, women's health physiotherapist in Darwin

I'm Laura — a women's health physiotherapist, Reconnected Birthing Practitioner, and a mum with young babies at home. Based in Darwin, I work with women in-person and online, and I know what it's like to be postpartum with a baby in your arms, wondering when your body and your sense of self will feel like yours again.

I know what it's like to replay a birth. To feel the gap between who you were and who you are now. To need more than a clearance and a checklist.

I created Held to Heal because new mums in Darwin (and everywhere) deserve to be truly heard and to actually heal.

Most support for new mums treats either the body or the mind.

Physiotherapy addresses what's physical.

Psychology addresses what's emotional. But for so many women, the healing that's needed sits right in the gap between the two — in the feelings that talk therapy can't quite reach, and that a standard Physio appointment was never designed to hold.

That's where I work.

Using somatic (body and breath) and systemic (visualisation and role play) tools alongside physiotherapy, I help you connect with what your body is holding — not just what your mind can explain.

So that healing isn't just understood. It's actually felt.

Kind words from women who've been held.

“I've never realised the disconnect I've felt between what I logically understand and how I feel in my body. Being able to connect with my body, not just my brain, was something I didn't expect.”

“Laura really listened. She led with meaningful questioning but then gave me space to talk through whatever came to mind. I realised some things for the very first time.”

“Laura is so gentle, non-judgmental and so supportive of where I need to go during the session… I feel lighter.”
